Well, it's a whole one degree outside, so I'm not going out there if I can avoid it. Also, we're just past the first new moon of the new year, and it's a very long time since I did a card draw, other than during FAWM or 50/90, and I miss doing it. I pulled out a bunch of decks, as I have been drawing cards to inspire a song for FAWM for some time now, and I have yet to decide which deck to use there.
As always, New friends and old are very welcome.

About the readings,
You can simply ask for a single card with no obligation to tip (though tips are very much appreciated, and allow you to ask for a clarifying card if the reading is not clear to you).
I am also offering a three-card reading for $20 or a five-card reading for $35, or if you want a larger reading we can discuss costs. A signal boost for readings or for my Patreon will also allow you to ask for a clarification card on some part of this reading, if you still have a question after seeing the first card(s).
The five card circle spread I designed is described here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/dandelyons-five-60824603 If you want a five card reading, that is one option, but not the only one. For a three card reading, you can ask for past/present/future, insight into an issue (or life in general) and two ways to deal with it, or something else.
Regardless of the length of the reading, you may ask about real life or a creative project, even for a character you play in a game. I can draw a card for you to meditate on, to represent the Guide you need right now, or to get you unstuck. I can draw a card for your protagonist or villain, or can draw a card or cards for you to use as writing or art prompts, and I can modify a more-traditional five-card spread into a prompt for a story focusing on plot or characters or a little of both. Let me know if you have any particular request.
For free one card readings, you can pick from any of my decks, including the Goddess Tarot, the Daughters of the Moon Tarot (one of the round decks), the Fantasy Tarot, the Art Nouveau Tarot, or the Shapeshifter Tarot. If you want a Guide to companion you in the new year or the holidays, the Susan Seddon Boulet art cards, a card from one of my Flower oracle decks (I have two) or Pathfinders (A lovely set of animal cards) would work well. If you don't pick a deck, I might pick from any of the decks available to me. Or give me a number from one to nine and I'll grab the deck that's in that position at the moment. If you remember a deck from previous readings, you can ask for that one too.
The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). I understand all too well that when people don't have cash or spoons that is generally when they most need inspiration. Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
When you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your Paypal information with your request. Tips should be at least $2 (Paypal charges fees). If Paypal doesn't work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out. The guitar case below is my personal PayPal link, featuring my own artwork, which does inspire me even though it isn't Tarot-related. Or you can use paypal.me/DeirdreMMurphy
I will reply to all requests. If I start to feel overwhelmed, I will close to free readings; in that unlikely event, that will be in nice bold letters after the word Status above. I plan to stay open until late Wednesday for free readings. After that, you can certainly ask for a paid reading, if you want one. Yes, I still have the stupid long covid, so if I'm too tired or can't focus at any particular moment, I'll rest and return later.
For paid/tipped readings, I will PM you with a photo of your reading. I do not put the images here because am not comfortable posting other people's art in a public place on the internet. (If I find an already-existing photo of your card, I might link to it.)
Thank you, Blessed Be, and may your new year be full of joy and dreams made happily true!
As always, while I work hard to offer insight and inspiration, all I can legally promise is entertainment. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page for a little more about my readings.
As always, New friends and old are very welcome.

Date: 2024-01-15 12:33 am (UTC)Maat
Date: 2024-01-15 04:05 am (UTC)For you, from the Daughters of the Moon Tarot, I drew Maat. The image shows a seat woman, arms upraised, one holding an ankh and the other holding scales. Above her is the sun, looking calmly out at you. I found an image of this card here: https://saidenne.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/maat/
Maat represents truth, balance, harmony, and justice. She symbolizes the order of the universe, things like the seasons following one another in a predictable fashion, but also making order out of chaos. It is her feather that determines if a soul is light enough to enter paradise after death. Maat is the daughter of the sun god; no doubt that is why his warm presence is so radiant behind her in the art of this card. The sun, too, follows an orderly path, rising and setting in a pattern that sets our days and warms our world.
I'm not sure if Maat is here to help guide you through the year, or if this card is referring to your role in the following year, either as the co-creator of your own life, or as the creator in the things you write. Either way, truth, balance, harmony, and order feel like good guides for action in the new year. Use them wisely, and their opposites sparingly, and only with good reason and care.

Date: 2024-01-15 02:18 pm (UTC)Hi!
Date: 2024-01-15 04:34 pm (UTC)Five of Staves
Date: 2024-01-16 01:28 am (UTC)So, I wonder, why is this woman fighting with herself? Can't she decide what better use to put her magic wands to? Does she fear failure--or success? Are the things she was taught and has internalized contrary to the desires of her higher self? Are there just so many things she wants to do that she can't decide between them? Does she just enjoy fighting so much that given no one else to fight with, she fights with herself? No, that doesn't feel right to me. Maybe it's as simple as a habit, and habits can be hard to break even when a person knows the are counterproductive.
I suspect this card is telling you to consider what is important to you--not to some past teacher--and think about whether your behavior reflects those beliefs and goals. And then, one at a time, take those staves and repurpose them--this one as a pencil or pen to organize your thoughts, that one as a shovel for taking out the trash, the other one as a spade for planting the seeds (literal or metaphorical) of things you want to grow in the future, and so on.
You have an abundance of creative, fertile, and beautiful energy in your hands. Even if the different aspects of yourself don't come to an agreement as to which one thing is most important, every moment working toward each of your goals instead of fighting about them will make a difference to all of you.
I did not find an image of this card already on the internet.
And thank you for your patience! Once I fell asleep again, I stayed asleep for a long time!
Re: Five of Staves
Date: 2024-01-16 12:45 pm (UTC)And thank you again for the fascinating reading! I completely understand any delays (hey, it’s below zero Fahrenheit here, too, for another few days).
Re: Five of Staves
Date: 2024-01-16 11:28 pm (UTC)As to the weather, it's not only stupid cold outside, but not as warm as it oughta be inside, since this is a very old Victorian house with big windows, and when the temp drops so fast and so low, the poor furnace can't keep up. It's better than it was, with a higher efficiency furnace and some replaced radiators, but still. The dark months aren't my best time, anyway, and the cold drains my energy too.

Date: 2024-01-16 07:21 am (UTC)Could I please have three cards?
I am attempting a steampunk cosy murder mystery and I am looking for plot complications or additional plot lines to help expand the very linear idea I have at the moment.
Thank you.
The Fool, the Warrior of Water, and The World
Date: 2024-01-17 12:43 am (UTC)I don't have a specifically steampunk deck, so I'll draw cards from several decks for you.
The first is the Fool, reversed, from the Londa Tarot. The image is a very slender young man with feathers in his blue hair. His clothes are torn (I can't tell if that's due to misadventure or fashion), and he holds a short staff (or perhaps one of those walking sticks that opens to reveal a sword at need) in his hands. He is accompanied by a raven, and one of the feathers from his hair has fallen to his feet. He looks sullen and somewhat sneaky at the moment, but being the fool he is doubtless impulsive and perhaps over-confident. He follows his own heart and is always up for adventure. He is more into experiencing all of life than solving mysteries. He could be a sidekick or antagonist, I suppose, or just someone who knows the deceased and is involved with a number of the suspects in one way or another. A free spirit, and perhaps a magical one as well.
The second is the Warrior of Water from the Shapeshifter Tarot, also reversed. This is this deck's equivalent of the Knight of cups. Like the first card, the primary colors are white, blue, and black. This card shows a young person of indeterminate gender who is, at the moment, more bird than human, wings raised and looking up into a starry sky. A swirl is above zir head, perhaps the Aurora, or a galaxy, or a dimensional portal. Their wings are upraised, and they are rising out of a cauldron, with water (or perhaps feathers) splashing out dramatically around their knees. In front of the cauldron is an enormous white rose, with ripples in the water around both, as well as smoke or vapor rising, like incense. The cauldron, like the sky, is covered with stars. This person might be a shapeshifter or mage, or even possibly the spirit of the deceased. The white rose is a symbol of respect, so I would expect that respect is important to this character. Ze is a dreamer as well as a warrior, though zir's tools in the fight are as likely a pen or a musical instrument as anything more traditionally war-like. I suspect ze is more interested in winning people's hearts than controlling their wealth or their swords.
Finally, from The Manga Tarot, I drew The World, also reversed. This card's main colors are white, blue, and gold. Your mystery has turned things upside down, and it's affecting more than just the people of your world. The image of the card shows a young woman with a staff, in a circle of greenery with the sun and moon to her sides, and golden images of a human, a hawk, a bull, an a lion in the four corners. That it shows up reversed means that things have been pushed out of the natural order, and there will be pressures on your main character (or on your world's police, it being a cozy) (or on both) to get this thing solved pronto. The circle behind the character in this card shows twilight, where the sky outside the circle is simple blue with white clouds, which could also suggest a dimensional portal of some sort. (Though the possibility of a portal could, I suppose, be a red herring. Or the gun on the wall in act one.)
I will also note that The World, card 21, is the end of the metaphysical journey that starts with Card 0, The Fool, if using the major arcana as a meditation tool. It is interesting that your reading starts at the beginning and ends at the end.
I hope these cards provide good inspiration!

Date: 2024-01-16 04:15 pm (UTC)I sent you the money for a five card reading. Could I please have a reading for romantic love in the new year? I'm open to any of the decks you mentioned except the Art Nouveau one.
Thank you and be well. :)
Abundance and Wisdom
Date: 2024-01-17 06:07 am (UTC)I grabbed the Goddess Tarot because the color scheme matches your profile pic remarkably well.
So, first, your physical circumstances: The Ten of Pentacles I interpret this as you have what you need in abundance, at least in terms of skills and practical issues. The image shows a tree in the center of a arch, with a verdant landscape in the distance. Pentacles are generally seen as representing skill, money, or other practical resources. This deck also mentions the creation of a home and family to share your wealth with as being associated with this card.
Second, your emotional and mental circumstances: The Four of Staves. This card shows a couple toasting each other under a symbolic canopy made of boughs of flowers held aloft by four staves. You are hoping for stability and satisfaction in the romantic relationship.
Third, the tools or skills you need to use or develop: The Queen of Cups. She is sitting on a beach, all the ocean behind her and the full moon haloing her head. The skills you need for a strong relationship are art, beauty, intimacy, communication of feelings, harmony. Some of these skills you already have, others are within your reach to develop. You may need to work on sorting out overwhelming emotions, and find ways to express them that are nurturing and productive.
Fourth, the unexpected: Wisdom, as personified by the Goddess Sarasvati. She is sitting on a lotus, a musical instrument in her lap. I’m not sure if this indicates that you must use wisdom or you will gain wisdom, though of course the two are not contradictory, so it could be both. The musical instrument emphasizes that finding and sharing harmony will be important, regardless of what challenges will appear.
And finally, the Heart of the matter: The six of pentacles. The card shows three women, a richly dressed woman and two beggars, who she is helping. The women appear familiar, and friendly to each other. The primary message of this card is generosity, sharing one’s talents, and helping others. It can also mean a need for appreciation, which seems appropriate for a romantic relationship.
Overall, these cards seem very balanced with each other. They don’t promise that everything will be easy, but it looks to me like you have or can develop the resources and skills to work out a good outcome.

Date: 2024-01-17 02:53 am (UTC)The Sun
Date: 2024-01-17 06:28 am (UTC)This is a card of energy and opportunity. Stand up and breathe, stop and smell the flowers, and embrace your dreams. Plant some seeds so you'll have a harvest later. Let all that bright, hopeful energy in and recharge your batteries, so you can be ready for whatever challenges you choose to take on. Remember, the seasons turn, and the sun is not always overhead, so make the most of it while you have this energy available to you.
I found The Sun on this page, if you scroll down a bit: https://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/manga-lin/

Lion and Coyote
Date: 2024-01-17 06:53 am (UTC)For T: From my combined Susan Seddon Boulet Animal Spirits and Goddesses Art Cards: For you I drew the Lion. The image is of a male lion in a circle, with the four points notated, so it forms a sacred circle, or a mandala. The lion looks directly at you. He is depicted in browns and golds, and the card as a whole is in colors ranging from gold though orange to light and dark browns. The Lion symbolizes courage, strength, healing, protection and life energy. He is a powerful guide, if you need one, or perhaps he is merely providing you some liminal space and time to heal and meditate.
For Craimar: From the same deck: The first thing I notice is a very similar color palate, but more orange and less brown. This is Coyote, drawn with her head in front of the sun, a robe around her shoulders. We know that this Coyote is female because this painting is titled Coyote Woman Waits. This painting was made to illustrate an Ursula K LeGuin story called, Buffalo Gals Won't You Come Out Tonight. Coyote is a benevolent trickster who (intentionally or unintentionally) helps to restore balance and order. Sometimes Coyote behaves foolishly that we may learn wisdom; other times Coyote follows a wise course, tricking the bad guys and coming out ahead. As a guide, I think Coyote would make life interesting, at the very least.
Thank you both for stopping by!
Re: Lion and Coyote
Date: 2024-01-17 04:32 pm (UTC)Just...take away the body factor; treat it like you are doing it for two separate people who just happen to be in the same room/house/etc.
Which you did.
<3 Thank you.
