I know what you mean about Pagan gatherings. It's true about science fiction cons too.
I would think that relatives count, but that's not the feeling I was getting. I could be wrong, of course. It's your life not mine. But maybe there's the possibility of making some new friends who can fit that kind of a role? Or maybe it's the words and long-distance support that matter to your situation. We sometimes overlook the effects of long-distance support.
Another possibility is that this isn't about you getting support, but finding ways to give it to some of those very dear friends you don't see often. Perhaps some of them are needing help or encouragement that you can give and would be perfectly willing to give, if you only knew they need it? It's a thing, I suspect, to be alert for at the gathering, just in case.
Or perhaps this is about the issue of knowing people well enough to know what it's good (for you and for them) to trust them with, and giving that trust. In my experience, when you make it clear you trust someone, they try to live up to that, so long as you don't trust them in a way that is inappropriate to who they are and what their limits are. And knowing they are trusted can sometimes be transformative, letting a person grow up and grow into a person who is appropriately trusted with more things later on down the road.
But I really have no insight as to why you're getting readings about connecting with people, unless you've been feeling lonely for a wider circle of close friends than just your husband and son. It can be really good to get out of the house and talk with other people. Maybe the cards are just telling you your upcoming gathering will be good for you.
