I recently listened to a course about the daily life of everyday humans from prehistory through the Renaissance. What you find with Pandora is the basic reality of female artists since...FOREVER. Women weren't even allowed to "do art" even privately. What was done was often destroyed, rarely saved in any way. Finding examples of music, sculpture, writing, etc done by women before the end of the Renaissance is possible, but I can confidently state that the average person would have a hard time naming ten famous female artists for every thirty male artists named. Even today, though the margin narrows, it's still kinda gaping.
